I’m Nadine. I’m a wife, mother, a grandmother, and I work full time. I’m 64 and I CrossFit. My CrossFit journey began at the “young” age of 62. I had gone to see my physician for a physical. I had minor “age related” health issues but, nothing serious…or so I thought. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and I was obese (230 lbs). My BMI was 37.1. My doctor recommended that I get physically active in order to lose weight.

 

I was already a member at a gym, the kind of place where you walk through the door and are greeted by rows of treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes as well as rows of TVs to entertain you while you exercise. The type of place where no one knows your name and where you workout alone. I became bored, lost interest, and stopped going.

 

My husband encouraged me to contact the coaches at CrossFit Viral. My first response was, “I can’t do that, I’m too old and too out of shape.” He encouraged me so I contacted the coaches and they reassured me that yes, I could do CrossFit.

 

I started onramp in April 2016. After onramp I joined member and started working out 3 times per week. And, let me tell you, it’s one of the best decisions I have ever made! I’m hooked on CrossFit.

 

Some of the many things I like about CrossFit Viral are the coaches, they are top notch – friendly and very knowledgeable. You have a coach in every class checking your form and encouraging you to do your best. They are great at answering questions and making suggestions for improvement. I also like the schedule, there are morning and evening classes making it easy and convenient for me to add a workout to my day. The workouts are challenging but, they’ve helped me get better, stronger, and faster. They are different every day and the variety keeps it fun. And, I like that everyone completes the same workout, regardless of whether you are male or female and regardless of age. You complete the workout at your own “skill level.” Last, the CrossFit Viral family is THE BEST!! Everyone here is friendly and supportive and, at the end of the workout there are plenty of “awesome job” and high fives to go around.

 

It’s been two years since I started CrossFit. I had another checkup this April. I’m happy to report that my blood pressure and cholesterol are back down to normal. I have maintained a 70 lb weight loss and my BMI is now 25.
