Meet Kali…

Committing to a gym 3 days a week and finding a sitter seemed unrealistic.

When my husband first introduced me to CrossFit in 2018, I was nervous. I had not worked out in years (willingly) and we had a 1 year old, 4 year old, and a 10 year old at home. Committing to a gym 3 days a week and finding a sitter seemed unrealistic.

We came in for our trial class and did the “WOD” which was a combination of box jumps and burpees. It was rough. Immediately after the class, my husband signed us up and in my head I couldn’t imagine how we were going to make this work. On the way home he said to me, “Let’s just try it for a month and see how it goes. I’ve heard great things about Viral and the methodology of CrossFit. If you don’t like it after a month, we can cancel.” I reluctantly agreed….little did I know it would become a huge part of my life, as well as our kids’ lives, and something I look forward to every day.

For the first year we made it a priority to go at least 3 times a week. My parents babysat the kids so we were able to make the 6:30 PM classes. There were times when we were unable to find a sitter and we had to go separately, which was intimidating, but everyone made you feel so welcome and it got easier each time. Now, I go 5 to 6 days a week. Once my middle daughter was old enough, she started doing kids classes and loved it! She even started making up WOD’s at home for her and her little brother to do. Now, all 3 of our kids do classes 2x a week at Viral. They look forward to going and constantly are asking, “Is today the workout!?”. They are now more aware of their overall health and how important it is to move your body well. Our whole family has become more active and focused on health because of CrossFit Viral, and I couldn’t begin to explain how thankful I am for that.

CrossFit Viral has become a second family. The people that I have met here have become some of my closest friends. Going to the gym, spending time with friends, and being able to commit an hour each day to my physical and mental health has been life changing. It’s also exciting to see your progress along the way. Can I lift more than last time? Can I do that WOD faster? Every day is a new challenge and I’m thankful to have found CrossFit Viral.
